Portable charger for electronics
« on: May 09, 2016, 06:18:17 AM »
I'm thinking about going a different route this year and switching from my solar panel kit to just bringing a portable battery pack. Mainly to charge my phone for GPS. Does anybody have a recommendation on a good battery pack? I was looking at the Anker 26800 http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00M3073L4/ref=mp_s_a_1_10?qid=1462799838&sr=8-10&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=anker+charger

I need it for ten days in the backcountry.

Go to the Verizon store or any car toys, they have really good battery packs that are as small as a cell phone and hold 3 full charges, we got our son one and he takes it to the field with him, it has survived all his jumps and has always charged his phone up really well. I wish I knew the name but it's the only one Verizon was carrying, you can probably even get it cheaper on Amazon
my grandpa always said "if it aint broke dont fix it"

:yeah:

That's the one my son got me last year for fathers day. It's a great unit. I think he paid the 79.00 for it. So at 49.99 that's a really good price. Just make sure you charge it fully after unboxing it. It will take or can take several hours to fully charge it .

I think the $79 is the full kit. The $49 doesn't come with a wall charger it looks like so I think you have to charge it with USB? I think I'll buy the full kit if I get that one. What does it weigh?

I use an older model of that Anker battery back up. It works awesome. It charges the i-phone super fast. Not sure if it would give 10 days of power, but IMO it's worth the money

It comes with a USB cord, that's all you need to charge it. I'm sure you already have the wall adapter from some other electronic that accepts a USB cord.
