Once in a life time, may aswell put it away
« on: May 10, 2016, 05:03:35 PM »
Was out fire forming brass today for my 243. Got it centered at 200 then took it to 300 then 400 and it was shooting so well I decided to take it to 733 yards as the wind was dieing down to slow back and forth shift,Dialed 13 min and shot 5 rounds just before the sky went dark and rain and wind kicked in. Dout I'll ever get a group like this again! About 2 1/2" CTC for all five shots but 4 are clover leafed. Shot 50 rounds in all today before I got rained out.

This was using 87gr vmax and reloader 17 in new Norma brass

Thanks. I'm sure I'll never be able to repeat that one!

The trick is to never try to repeat it now! If anyone asks just say that group shooting is boring and you just don't do it any more. :chuckle:

That's awesome. I once had a great group going at 700 yards until I took the second shot.

Can't believe you messed up a good group with the one flyer!  :chuckle:
Go try again... Not like it's that hard!  :yike:

Days like that are awesome. I've had a few (nothing like that) but a few days it seemed like I couldn't miss. I have way more days that are the opposite tho where I can't hit anything.  :)

Yes days like that one don't come often! Hell I was stoked when I hit it with the first shot as I had no clue my speed, as I said before I was fire forming my new Norma brass and it felt much heavier and thicker than the Hornady brass I had been using with the 87's so I just loaded 2 gr's lower than my normal charge. With the old load I had to dial 12.5 moa so I guessed 13 min and ended up just a bit high on the plate. May have to do a little more testing with that load! Shot just over 1/2 moa at 100 but it seemed to tighten up the farther I stretched it out.
