RPR is very good for long range target shooting, but handle one first if you want to do a lot of hiking while deer/antelope hunting - it may be a bit heavy as a hunting rifle. However, as I get older I'm just getting wimpy and like to hunt with a light hunting rifle.
If on a budget, hard to beat the Ruger American http://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/1000-yards-500-rifle-rugers-american-predator/

I don't know what the "precision rifle" weighs but the American in only 6.5 pounds or so. That is correct. Both of mine come in with optics and mounts are around 7.5-8lbs.
The precision rifle with optics no. The predators heck yes way under. One of mine is rocking a bushnell elite and the other a vortex.
Where are the coopers coming in at?
