Author Topic: Ribs for daughters 13th birthday party update June 11th first 4 racks of ribs  (Read 5303 times)

Here's my go on ribs I have put dry rub on 6 racks of ribs and will put in smoker on Saturday for the birthday party on Sunday I did a rack last weekend for a test trial turned out awesome I will put sauce on the ribs for the last hour in smoker right now I have two racks sitting in Coke a cola and the other 4 have dry rub on I keep hearing people say Soak ribs in Coke a cola before putting rub on so going to give that a try Friday after work I will take ribs out of the Coke a cola and rinse then put dry rub on to sit over note to smoke on Saturday will post pics as I go

First 4 racks of ribs done these are the ones I soaked in Coke a cola just for overnite from 9pm to 5am brushed on bbq for the last hour was holding temp at 200 for 6 hours

At the birthday party everybody that ate ribs liked the flavor of the ones soaked in Coke a cola I had 4 food dishes with ribs and the two dishes that were soaked in Coke a cola were about empty after the party but I think next time I will soak in Coke a cola less time I belive I soaked them from 6pm to 5am I think they soaked in to long but hey everybody liked them at the party I leaned towards he soaked ribs more then the dry rub ribs

Those look great! Soaking in coke helps break down the meat with the acids in the coke. We have done the same with brisket.
Slap some bacon on a biscut and lets go, were burrnin daylight!

Now you guys got me wanting to try soaking ribs in various soda flavors to see how they affect the taste. 7up, Cream Soda, Dr Pepper, Maybe even Orange.  :dunno:

I soaked it in coke over Thursday nite and Friday morning before work I rinsed it off and after a 8 hour shift at work I put the dry rub on then in smoker on Saturday for 6 hours and for the last hour in smoker I added the bbq sauce
