It's not the ammo it is the bullet that is most important to accuracy.  Need to be more specific about the rifle your shooting it in and what bullet you tried.

There is probably 10's of thousands of shooters out there that will most certainly disagree with you on that statement. Black Hills offers several different loadings, you need to find one that will shoot in your gun. If you are referring to FMJ blasting ammo then you will likely never be happy with the accuracy in any brand.

Problem is you are looking for "CHEAP AND ACCURATE" good luck.

I would.  In general I've had great luck w/ Black Hills and American Eagle stuff.  In the standard FB HP stuff I generally get less than 1" groups.  How accurate are you wanting.... sub MOA?  Also, if you're looking for particular bullets you're almost always gonna be paying more for em.  The only cheap stuff I've had real issues with is the Wolf crap from Russia.  That's horrible stuff.

can you define 'cheap' and 'accurate'?
Black Hills bluebox is excellent ammo.
Some bullets shoot differently than others.
You might try HSM for some similar quality with alot of bullet options.
you might start reloading.

Sounds like you're shooting an AR, me too. I've had problems with ftf and fte with winchester's white box, it's also dirty, stay away! Horniday's 50gr. V-max is gtg but of course not cheap. I have no problems getting sub moa with remington's cheap green and white boxes 50 gr. hollow points. I also second american eagle, haven't shot it in .223 but the large calibre stuff is impressive.

THX, i guess i need to be clearer,  i have factory rounds that are super accurate that i shoot in my R15, they are expensive, so i top off the mag with only 3 or 4 of them. the rest is for spray and pray work, or plinking. i tried black hill remanufactured 62 gr soft points, they shoot like 2 inch groups. i know you get what ya pay for, i'm just asking of the maybe 5 common brands of the cheap stuff out there, has anybody had any particularily surprising luck with any of them.

I just order some Hornady 55 grain V-MAX Moly (In Stock).  Not a cheap price, but heck...I haven't been able to find anything in stock!

I needed some good ammo right away so I can get my new AR-15 sighted in to be ready to do some coyote hunting in the next month.

Not sure with your definition of "crap" is but in my experience "crap" and "cheap" go hand in hand.

Anyways, my cheap crappy recomendation is Ultramax 52 grain Hollowpoint.

Use to run it in the AR but .223 ammo is so hard to find I started reloading. Very accurate for me and seemed to do OK on coyotes.

Midway used to always carry it.

basic XM193 is selling for about $.42 a pop everywhere.
I just bought some Black Hills bluebox 60gr Hornady $28/50, so that's $.56/a pull.
I regularly shoot that ammo into a cloverleaf.
Not too expensive compared to blaster ammo, unless you really run through it.
The 52gr hp should be good accuracy and less expensive.
I don't hope for much accuracy shooting milspec.
