Pretty lake and it has been stocked heavily (See WDFW site under FISHING). Main access is thru Fishtrap Resort and the nearby WDFW boat launch. BLM land surrounds a good portion of the lake, but it is a hike to get to the lake shore or pay a trespass fee to some ajoining landowner to bank fish.

I grew up fishing there, the fishing has always been quite good.  If you have a boat go through the narrows(you cannot miss them the lake narrows down to about 50ft wide for a section), and immediately  turn right in the first cove that is called the bear cave.  It has always been a great producer for me.

I like to troll through from where the lake necks down to where it opens back up, hugging the west side close to the rock face.  I'll just go back and forth through there and have always had good luck.  I use flashers or dodgers followed by a wedding ring.  I've seen guys catching fish in the cove that SemerFidelis97 mentioned as well, but I've never tried it.  I've never caught anything too big out of that lake, but it should give the kids a good chance to catch something.  Good luck!

I agree on going up past the narrows. Fish there sooner than later however because the fish get a real muddy taste after the water gets hot.

There is a private resort so you can fish off their dock but they also rent out small aluminum boats outfitted with a motor if you'd like.
