Wenaha backpack trip
« on: June 23, 2016, 11:47:34 PM »
Backpacked from Diamond Peak to Indian Corral to Oregon Butte to Huckleberry Springs and back this past weekend.  Great trip. Lots of rugged country. Met a blonde bear that charged me.  Wish I could draw!

Thanks to the members who answered my pm's about snow melt and road access.

Apparently, you have to click on the .MOV, and download it, to see the 1 second video of the bear charge.  I was videoing until my dog growled, stopped the bear, and then I switched to still photos.  In the switch, I think my little pocket camera dumped the temporary video data and I lost the rest of the video.

Cool trip

Nice pics. Beautiful country especially this time of year. That trail is the only semi flat ground in the unit haha...

Does your dog have any anxiety about sleeping under the tarp?  How about ticks on the dog??

Yes, she sleeps outside almost all the time when she is in the wilderness. So having a floorless shelter makes it easy for her to come and go without bugging me to unzip. But I think she doesn't sleep much. Too much going on. No ticks. She had a Nexguard treatment 2 weeks prior. Needed boots for her, though. 38 miles was too much for her pads.

That's a hard core dog.
:fire.:

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield
