Drew Chewuch Whitetail Buck Tag
« on: July 07, 2016, 12:29:55 PM »
Hi all,

I drew the Chewuch whitetail buck tag for Nov 1-20. I actually have access to some huntable private land just a few miles north of Winthrop along the river, where I've seen some whitetail does in the past and found antlers.

Any suggestions on the best time to be there to fill the tag? And if anyone knows any other spots in the unit that may be available for whitetail hunting, I'd love to hear about them!

Thanks for any insights.

My friend and I talked to a guy that had that tag when we were hunting his mule deer tag a few years back. He had talked to the biologist for the area who pretty much told him to hunt a specific area and when the deer would start to rut heavily. The guy said the biologist was right on, and that he was seeing some nice bucks. That was around the 12th of November if I remember correctly. I believe he was hunting around Rendevous.
I hunt, therefore I am.... I fish, therefore I lie.

The WT are starting to push the does.  I would definitely be there from the 15th - 20th.  Just got back an hour ago from over there.  It was snowing good on the pass.  Pretty wet one as well.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!
