It sounds like you had a quality experience! I've eaten a quality tag before but felt rewarded regardless.
I've been working with a landowner for deer hunting in the south end but he gets some damage control cow tags that he keeps for himself and family.
I've yet to see elk in there but he gets a couple each year.
I'm looking forward to the up coming deer season bouncing between Peola and ritzville.
Best of luck on future hunts!

Unfortunately this doesn't seem to be exactly true anymore. Due to the Bennett Lumber fiasco, a lot of the landowners have given up on allowing folks access. Some are willing to let people hunt and some who used to let people in are not anymore.

I know the owner that I'm working with would not allow any elk hunting on his properties. He saves it for himself.

I know landowners that I am friends with that aren't allowing hunting.
I also know that the guy that started this thread had landowners tell him "no" when he asked for permission.

I was given a very firm no from one guy in particular that I was told would be willing to let guys hunt.  In fact he gave out several permit cards last year and this year no more.  There was another land owner that I did not even ask because of a run in last year with someone that ruined it for everyone.  All in all it was a rewarding hunt bull or no bull.  It was something I will never forget. In the end it's all about the memories.
