Potholes Reservoir always an adventure
« on: July 12, 2016, 08:46:33 PM »
Took off for Potholes Monday morning about 0430. Always a fun trip regardless of how the fishing is. While the fishing was anything but hot this trip I still managed to boat some bass, spook some deer, got attacked by birds and saw one of the craziest cars I've ever seen!

For the record: Algae was starting to pick up Monday and pretty much doubled overnight! Nasty! Lind Coulee you could walk on the stuff and the only clean water I could find day one was way back by the Winchester Wasteway.

Pictures from my trip:

Jumped a couple deer on one of the dunes, this led to a run/swim session as the deer didn't approve of my presence.

Saw what I believe is a martin? Looks like a ferret running the rocks of the damn.

On the way over I was passed by a guy outside of Ellensburg who I will forever refer to as "Lord of the Wings"! LOL

Oh yeah, caught some bass! The biggest was a spawned out 4.2, but sat anchored in one spot for an hour casting at the same bush and caught and released 15 bass that were sitting in a little ditch, lost 4 and one broke my hook! Other than this "hole" I only caught 2 other largemouth and on day 2 I only landed 2 smallies but was treated to a heck of a sunrise!

Eventful trip! It's been too long since I've fished in the basin, I need to get out there! I'd agree it was a link, I've seen them out there quite a bit in the past, they swim like muskrats too.
Fish hard, hunt harder!

Mink it is! One was swimming across the launch cove when I was leaving, I stopped and let him swim by but once I started moving again he panicked and dove under!

Here's a video link to the killer birds of Hitchcock Island (formerly Goose Island) what the heck are these happy little buggers?? Need to take my wife here although the laughter might kill me :D

They are Terns, not sure what kind since they are moving so quickly. I would guess Common Tern after freezing the video, but a nice side shot of the head would help as well as a size reference.
