Don't the caribou migrate out of this area to some where warmer for the winter?  :dunno:

Cold and frozen...just not standing when found.  And yes it is insanely cold on the slope this time of year.

Yea but just think what those dall sheep have to go thru feeding on those cold wind blown ridges foraging for food. No wonder that hair of theirs is hallow for insulation.

Most head for the southern mountains out of the wind and slightly less harsh climate...  That picture is amazing....

Cool pictures, but I'm calling BS on that animal having been frozen standing up.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

Either that or someone was driving up the haul road and tagged one with the truck, they are all over the road during the winter time...  Someone else found it a couple days later, wella....  Instant pic

I wonder if this isn't an example of "frozen taxidermy". It is mentioned in ADM Perry's trip to the North Pole and there are examples of a couple pics...one of three Caribou and one of a Polar Bear in the online book. In case anyone is interested, the link is below. I guess it's where the animal is killed, placed and photographed after it is frozen.

http://www.gutenberg.org/files/18975/18975-h/18975-h.htm

It really is an interesting read too.
