Favorite Elk Hunting Book

Anyone have suggestions for the best read on bow hunting Roosevelt Elk for a solo hunter?  I think I'll try a little harder to get it done this year.

I read a couple by Jim Zumbo and filled my tag the first season.  Coincidence? Probably but they were good reads for sure.  You can never have too much information.

For the technological aspect of elk, North American Elk - Ecology and Management by DALE E. TOWEILL and JACK WARD THOMAS.  For the "how to do it", I recommend Elknut's Playbook, DVD Series, and John Erikson's Tree Stand Hunting Rocky Mountain Elk.  I find a lot of the other types of books are a lot of fluff with stories about taking their nephew out on their first hunt and this is what happened stories.  That's all fine and dandy, but many of the bio type books are not really "how to do it" books... The books I mentioned will equip an elk hunter much better than some of the bio type books... just my thoughts

Finding any book that concentrates on Roosevelt Elk is pretty hard to find.
"The Forest Elk: Roosevelt Elk in Olympic National Park" is a basic Olympic National Park handbook that has some interesting information in it, but not really a "hunting" book.
About all you can do is find books about RM Elk and apply those strategies.
X2 on Elknuts Playbook, the strategies work, just be patient...

Hart Wixom has a fine book. Not Roosevelt specific,  but he gives the subject more than just a casual paragraph or two. When I was guiding,  this was what I fell back on when times got tough. He's old school and also relays a lot of info from the awesome Gaspar Puchi.   That guy is the man.

Thanks for the tip!  I read books and appreciate the tips.  There are those who discount "book learning" but I have three kids, two toddlers, and GOOD books let me build knowledge so that when I get a chance to get out in the field I have a goal in mind... and I read while falling asleep at night.   

A good book can be a good friend.

I wouldn't go a day without a book. Normally have 2 or 3 going at one.
