The issue in that article is hunting on national wildlife refuges, which under federal law are actually closed to all hunting and all access unless the government opens it to such uses. Would you rather have no access? No ability to hunt at all?

The feds have transferred millions of acres of federal lands to state and tribal entities in the past couple decades in Alaska, the amount of federal public lands is nowhere near what it used to be. Just a couple weeks ago BLM transferred a million acres of BLM lands in AK to a local tribe. BLM doesn't even have half a million acres in WA....

While I think this is kind of good (not allowing helicopter hunting, and the other changes), I did note Wayne Pacelle is on this. I automatically turn him off now.

"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter

I think those rules are pretty much in line with State Law. Kind of ho-hum but of course HSUS seen the chance to make it look like they had something to do with it.
Gotta keep that name out there so they can continue to fleece the suckers.

Here's a different article.  Little bit more critical of what is going on.
