it's open 7 days a week this year, until the closure of course.
for the last 15 or so years, i haven't usually started fishing it in earnest until around the 10th of august. peak is last week of august-2nd week of september, at least unless the muddy glacial melt makes it through alder lake to the lower river and shuts down the bite. of course they're closing it down "for the silvers", which is BS because the river has historically never had much of a silver run anyway.
this might be the first year i haven't fished the nisqually, and i've been fishing it since 1989. with everything else shut down, it's sure to be a freak show once some fish show up in numbers, and i just can't get worked up to bother with the droves of idiots that park their cars on the edge of the river and don't leave a spot for us guys that launch our boats.
