GMU 249 Alpine
« on: August 10, 2016, 04:31:49 PM »
Does this unit fall under the High Buck Hunts?

It isn't specifically listed under Modern. "203 through 272" 3 pt minimum, but not skipped either
In Archery it is called out for 3 pt or antlerless
in Muzzleloader the GMU skip from 248 to 250, skipping 249

This got me wondering if the unit is either closed to Muzzy hunters or it falls under High Buck

Thanks

It's open for high buck (Alpine Lakes) and General season (modern and early archery.)

Not open for muzzleloader season, except for "Hugh buck."

So a hunter could have 32 days to hunt modern firearm if he hit High Bucks, General and Late General. Not in all the same unit, but still  :yike:

I've only been hunting deer in WA for the past few years and that was up in the San Juans.

I like hunting there, but unfortunately I lost my access to the private land I was hunting  :bash:  Family fued

I foresee some of my excess vacation getting used up  :chuckle:

You'll need the extra vacation... there are not a lot of deer per square mile in the Alpine Lakes area.

Keeping my options open. I was one ridge over 2 weeks ago. Saw plenty of deer: does, a spike and a 3x4
also heard a herd of elk after dark. cows and bull
Next trip I will make the trek over the next ridge to see if it is worth while.

Besides, we all know the deer have the season dates in their brains. They will all hit the lower elevations the day before season opens  :chuckle:
