I miss the old timber companies that let you enter at your own risk and didn't charge you a dime
Damn I'm old! I remember not even thinking about paying to enter any land I hunted. After hunting half a day or so I would run into a crew all set up up and in the process of clear cutting a large valley. The guys were cool and would let me hang out and watch them do their thing. When they took a short break, I'd walk right up to a group of about half a dozen guys and ask questions about how the set up all the cables criss crossing this huge valley, the tactics they used on dropping timber so it was lined up for an easy pick to be hauled to the top of the landing.
After conversing for 15 to 20 minutes, some of the guys would offer up where they would run into game on their way in and out to the cut. It was a very different time back then. People, hunters, forest workers, loggers, truck drivers were just laid back and enjoying life. The loggers were happy to see a hunter tag something. Good times.
