Pretty cool. Have any of you done something like this. I have always wanted to catch a bird I shot.

Yep. 1 time. It was one of the pinnacle moments in my duck hunting career.

Cool but very foolish to do. Just think what his hand could look like if a broken wing bone punctured him.Yikes. I've had a couple of close calls with falling geese in layout blinds where the birds hit at my feet. No way to get out of the way.

I wouldn't try it. I was once hit by a mallard I shot from directly overhead. It glanced off my left arm and hip, I was soar and bruised for several days afterward. My dog once caught a dove in the air as it was slowly helicoptering down after I shot it. He then delivered to my feet, that was pretty cool!

Honker nailed the end of my gun as I was dodging out of the way.  Gun rammed my shoulder and flew 20 feet away.  I was on my back next to a dead honker.  Bruised and yelling to the old guy with one lung I was hunting with, "did you see that!" He said, I winged one go get it.

"Yeah, I saw it.  Now be quiet and go fetch my bird."
