truck gun racks

I got a new dodge ram and the gun holder I had for my ford f350 doesn't work in it.  I was just curious what people do to secure there firearm when they are road hunting or just traveling in general.  I'm looking for ideas that make it easy to grab and chase after animals.

What kind of cab is it? I use a window rack in my Ranger when driving up to the mountains, I rest my gun on the passengers side when I'm changing spots or think I might jump something on the way. If your road hunting in a full size there are tons of options. Sky rack hangs them up overhead there are dash gun racks if you have a quad or crew cab you can get an under seat gun vault if you have flip up rear seats. There are even discreet gun racks that hang on the back of the front seats. If you want to bolt something in you can find vertical mounts similar to the shotgun rack in a police cruiser.

put old pillows or carpeting in the bed of the truck.  Then when you're in a hurry to get out of the truck the guns are already out there and have adjusted to the colder air and rain so they aren't fogging up on you.

I designed one 10+ years ago that replaces all of them but haven't gone through the whole patent process stuff yet. Just sits in my safe until hunting season or I go shooting. Maybe this winter lol.

Always questioned if there's still a market or not? It's not the 70's anymore 

Good luck  I also like the idea of a police style that holds my rifle upright from the dash but haven't played around with any of the ATV/UTV mounts yet.

I keep it laying across the front seat with the barrel on my lap.  That way I can set my beer down and slip it right out the window and take a quick shot.  No fumbling with silly racks or having to get out of the truck that way

yep across the seat on my lap, beer in the drink holder, half a rack of beer on the floor, then learn to drive while shooting out the window. couple bong hits help you focus, anyone can shoot after you stop but a real road hunter can hit at 10 mph.
My under the rear seat storage  makes it hard to get the gun out without stopping, dang!
Of course assuming the poster was a poacher or worse is just about as accurate.

I recommend something like a Thompson contender for the shorter stuff and something like an AR muzzle down next to the center console for when you have a little more time. Beers are nice, but margaritas in a Mtn Dew bottle are way more fun.
