i seen a doe this year like that in vail. she stood out like a sore thumb. had a spike with her too. needless to say finding that spike was easy after they went over a ridge into some 5year old clear cuts lol

She will definitely stand out, she looks healthy though. Reminds me of the blonde apes on Planet of the Apes Movies.

The blonde elk is something that shows up in that particular area somewhat regularly.  Over the last twenty or so years I've seen four like that at the refuge.
Here's a old shot I took of a young bull there.  Sorry about the picture quality, it was scanned off a faded print.  I couldn't find the negative.  This bull was harvested the following year.

Sorry about the elk smut but you'll see another blonde elk in the foreground.

Great pics.

When I was 18 I once spent a whole afternoon manuvering up on a herd of mule deer that I thought were elk because when I first spotted them (about a half mile away, without very good optics) there was this one mulie doe with a bleached white ass (no black tip on her tail).  I saw that white ass, was SURE they were elk, and spent the rest of the day getting into shooting position.  When I popped out in range, I saw they were deer.  I was so confused until that ancient doe turned her ass to me and I saw that bleached white rump. :bash: :bash:
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
