6mm ar-15 cartrages?
« on: September 09, 2016, 10:15:24 AM »
What are my options with ar-15 and 6mm projectiles? I'm a reloader so wild cats are an option. What say you?

6mmAR, or 243 LBC are probably your best bets, and there are even improved versions of the 6mm AR.

I have a 6mm BRX, but it's a little bit on the finicky side and I'm not even sure if you can get bolts for it anymore.

The wssm and lbc are catching my interest. I thought about a 6.5 Grendel but I have so many 6mm bullets why change. I love the 6mm projectiles.

Looking at the 6mm AR turbo, anyone have one?  Basically a 6 Grendel.

I know some guys with them.   It's a good cartridge for sure.

I have a 6.5 BRX AR and finicky is a good word for it. :chuckle:

The Grendel based 6mm rounds are probably the best combo for performance and function in the AR 15.

I've got a side-charging 6mmAR upper with dies and a bunch of brass I'd sell pretty cheap.  Bought it for competing, but used my LR260 instead.

Me and my brother both have 6x6.8 blackhole weaponry barrels on our  Ar's both  guns are very accurate and ch4d makes a really nice die set for necking down and resizing all in one shot.heres a link to blackholes forum for the cartridge

That's what I would do.
I've been thinking about building one for years.

Im seriously considering the 243wssm or 243LBC, 6 Grendel. To me the 6x45 is just a little slow for the range I "plink".  The ballistics aren't too exciting and not much better than the 223.
The wssm and lbc have very similar ballistics to my 243win which Is what I'm looking for. Ballistics of a 243 in an AR.....sign me up!
