Just picked up my license and tag and started packing up.
« on: September 12, 2016, 10:20:32 PM »
Hello, I'm new to this forum.  I'm also a first time hunter, but experienced at long range shooting (sub MOA @ 100yards, shot out to 800+).  I just picked up my license and tag today for a hunt this weekend with some more experience hunters.  I am really looking forward to this.

Currently I'm packing up my stuff for this deer hunt.  Does anyone here have a good list of what to pack?  I have a generic idea of what to pack, but don't want to forget something since I'm trying to pack light.  We will be hiking in to the territory so keeping things light is best for me.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the site but archery or high buck hunt? Or some other where rifles are legal now?
Nice to see a few more new hunters on here.
"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter

Here's what I bring in my pack while hunting:
1. Water
2. Some form of a communication device such as you phone, or a radio
3. Map of where you are hunting, just print one off Google maps
4. A good set of knives for gutting/cleaning the meat
5. A watch to tell the time
6. an extra jacket just incase I get cold or if it starts to rain
7. Dead down wind field wipes (not necessary, but they good for washing your hands and descenting your self a bit after a hike)
8. Dead down wind check It's about 4 bucks at Walmart online or in the store depending on where your at

Those are all I can remember at the moment. Have fun!
