Muzzy Elk, What to expect?
« on: September 22, 2016, 08:32:16 PM »
Wondering what to expect as far as quantity of hunters in the Colockum area, 328-329.

Assuming its similar to archery...crowded up the Colockum, and slightly less in the Blewitt pass/lion rock area.  :dunno:
Have only archery hunted for elk....20+years now, and finally decided to purchase the multi elk this year.

Not going to be nearly as many people in the naneum  during muzzy as there is during bow. I believe it's around 300 people during muzzy to 1500 people during bow.

In 328 last season there were about 1400 bow hunters, 1800 rifle hunters and 240 muzzy hunters, according to the 2015 harvest statistics report. There were even less in 329. Last year was the first year for muzzy elk in that unit since I don't know when so I'm not sure what this year will be like but I can't imagine it will be much different. So X2 to Jimmy.

Don't know the area at all but my experience is a lot of rifle guys go muzzleloader and don't call. I went from archery to muzzleloader and it was this great edge I had now. My first year ML hunting was in the Bumping and every hunter we ran into thought it was funny I had a  grunt tub and cow calls. Now this was back in 2001 things might be different now.
