Alta 2nd deer tag rifle season
« on: October 02, 2016, 01:48:13 PM »
Looking for a little entail and help locating some white tail does on some public land over in alta. I put it as a 4th choice and got drawn for it should be fun, just a little more help I was more south in the unit yesterday and didn't see a single thing. Drive 153 I see them all over but more on the twisp end. I'll probably end up heading more that way come season. Any info or help I appreciate.

Took an old man over there a few years ago and I only ran in to white tail on the twisp side. Didn't see them at all up in the hills but jumped a few down I the river drainages.

Ok cool, that's where I'm going to be more towards the twisp side of the unit. Thank you for the input

Like the other fella said, stay closer to Twisp. I am up here in Mazama. On my way up a week ago, saw many whitetails and mules just before twisp. Starting about 15 miles before twisp, there won't be anymore whitetail on the way toward it.

Knock on doors and stay low along the rivers.
The things that come to those who wait, may be the things left by those who got there first!

Most whitetail in alta are going to be on private property. There are a few spots to run into them on public land. Feel free to pm if you want more info.
