Lil bro's bear number two
« on: October 12, 2016, 10:12:46 AM »
Spotted this bear while goat hunting. She was probably 900 yards or more off when spotted. He snuck up to within 200 yards, drilled her broad side breaking shoulder number one and the bullet embedded in the other shoulder. She rolled down the hill and started running at him (not really knowing where he was, just trying to get out of dodge). Popped off again, hit her again broad side, kept coming, another shot, hit her in the spine, down she went, writhing and growling, took one more shot to finish the job. It wasn't for poor shooting, that first shot by all conventional means should have done the job (and likely would have but she might have ran a bit). I watched it through the spotter scope, then scurried down into the alpine bowl to help bone out and bring back to camp (along with X-Force). We got her packed up at dusk, head lamp pack out to camp. After some rough rock/cliff climbing, we made it back. Only 7 miles to the truck! OLD bear, but average size for WA, great hide, lots of memories and fun.

nice and grats but the 2016 bear success thread is getting lonely  :chuckle:
"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter
