no snares, no leg holds, nothing that grips tha animal. Only cage traps.

No telling what the cat market will do this year but I won't sell my first cat

well then, that really limits everything,  how in the world so you use a cage to catch a beaver, muskrat or even a mink for that matter??

yes , its not easy but it gets done.  Coyote seems to be the one that's almost impossible

I still want to try some large, trigger system double door traps (or open 3 door Kirk style traps) on well used Coyote trails. Lots of feathers, good lure & urine placement. Maybe even have to try live bait. I've read about it being done on the Trapperman forum. Probably gonna get one of them 3 legged or manged up *censored*s but who knows. Worth a try with the right traps

I think it is unlikely any fur prices including cats will improve this year.

Bruce is probably right but let's be honest. None of us are in it for the $$. It would be nice to get some extra cash but none of us will ever get rich trapping.  Some trappers might break even some day.     As for coyote trapping I 'm still working on a coyote trap I think may at least catch a few. I know Wdfw has caught coyote in a large trap built from logs. I'd play more with large traps if we could trap cougar

If you can swing it start prebaiting where you are going to trap cats at do a whole skinned beaver and nail it to a big tree through the tail up high like 7 feet the cats can get it no problem but coyotes and skunks and such can't  :twocents:
    Good luck Jake
