What are you shooting?   I shoot a 54 TC Renegade.  My rifle likes 90 or a 100 grains of pyrodex with a 425 grain Great plains hornady or a 435 grain maxi bullet.

X2

Also, I've discovered the heavier PowerBelt bullets (425 Gr.?) shoot very well in my .54 cal. Renegade and are super easy to load.

.54  TC Renegade w/ Green Mountain 1/28 twist. Lymon 450 grain buffalo bullet from a mold. I have all the TC molds, the Lymon is the best! I would like to have a Green Mountain 1/72 twist for patched round balls. They quit making them before I came up with the funds!

90 grns  Triple 7. No wad. Tennis ball group from a bench at 100yds. The limiting factor for me is the size of the front fiber optic sight - seems huge and covers up to much. Tempted to get a peep or ghost sight, but I'd like to try one first.  The Lyman #548657 has more bearing surface than any of the TC bullets.

I use 110 grains behind a TC maxi ball (think they're 430g.) in my TC Renegade .54 cal.  Worked great on my elk at about 60 yards.  Complete pass through with the  exit wound being about 4X of caliber.

Jason, that rifle likes a patched round ball much better then a bullet.it will shoot them however it may not give you the accuracy you may be looking for. Shooting a patched 530 or 535 and 90 grns of 3f blk powder work well on elk, deer and pretty much any big game here in the state  .but its your call as to bullet usage TC makes some and they have worked for friends in the past   best of luck

Funny, my T/C Renegade .54 cal. shoots conicals far more accurately than a patched round ball.

Jason, each rifle (even from the same company) shoots differently; I suggest you try both round ball and several different brands of conicals to see which one your gun prefers. Personally, I prefer the ease of loading and added SMACK of a large conical bullet.
