Will he be back?
« on: October 21, 2016, 09:14:17 PM »
Trailed a bear to a clearcut where he was digging out a log. Couldn't get a clean shot on him before he noticed me and he took off. I waited about a half hour before I followed him, and then lost his trail about a mile and a half from the stump. I was thinking of waiting a day before I headed back out there and then trying to set up and call in that area. In your experience will a bear return to an area after being spooked off of a food source? This is an area with very low human disturbance (besides me) and with a very well used bear trail. Does waiting a day to let the area settle down and let my scent dissipate make sense? Would love to get this bear if I can, he was a big one.

a bear will eventually return to any food source...if you trailed him a mile and a half from that "stump" then you don't need to ask for help from this forum as you already have the skills to kill any bear in this state.
