If a wounded animal runs 5 miles before it finally dies then please quit hunting now. Regardless of where the animal started, you MUST always have land owner permission. Even when perusing a wounded animal. I know that area like the back of my hand and I know how crooked the "guide" is. If he took me to the spot and told me where he shot it from then I might believe him. But I sure as heck don't believe him now. P.S. don't lie

The 1st version of the hunt that was posted before editing doesn't jive with the bull running.

In fact the original post says, or said:

"put a quick range on them and whispered to him "he's at 550" He settled in and squeezed one off. You could hear the bullet thwack the bull. The bull took a few steps and went down."

I could be wrong but it sounds like he was shot and fell where he was standing. On private ground.

Just a little history on the shooter and the op. The op is my son and i take a huge offense to the faulse accusation that this bull was not harvested legally!! if you look at all of the posts my son and i have put on hw they are all honest and legal. My son was my guide on my Entiat tag last year. He has always been the guy who says i want to know where im at!! He goes nowhere without his gps and confidence knowing where landowner/private areas are and where he is. If this bull was illegally taken do you really think he would post here?? Really? Pull your heads out of your bungs. Sometimes deer and elk die on the spot, sometimes they run 5 miles. Do the math.

Just to clear a couple things up. Was the cape and rack actually confiscated by WDFW? If it was a clean, fully legal kill could your son explain the locals post on this thread?

I think this thread blew up because there is a very large amount of elk hunters that probably know the where abouts of some really nice bulls but the bulls are safe and sound on land that isn't open. So any number of guys could kill a bruiser, but won't. When you see someone not having the control to just let the big guy walk, it hits a nerve.

Hey I remember that! I remember those exact words! Maybe the bull was only 550 yds into private ground lol

Just because your son is an adult and doesn't live with you, that doesn't mean he can't, on his own, explain why this kill would fire up the locals. He could, without help from his father explain why the locals posts on this thread are wrong. I'm not asking anyone to speak for your son.

Actually, maybe the "guide" should open up and let us all know what really happened.

The shooter on the grassy knoll??!!

I have the tapes. I'm trying to remain calm until the right moment, but I'm having a hard time containing my excitement.

Now I get why people post pictures and just say Eastern or Western hahahaha!!!  Dayton property owners are not to be messed with !!!!!!!!! If it was a legal kill post a picture with the rack dated currently.  If people are claiming it was confiscated by WDFW, prove them wrong.

Between this thread and the campaign numbers rolling in... I'm not sure if I'm gonna get any sleep tonight...  :chuckle:
THE WORLD NEEDS MORE PEOPLE HOLDING DEER IN PICTURES...
AND LESS PEOPLE HOLDING CAMERAS IN FRONT OF BATHROOM MIRRORS.
