Only was able to get a few days of hunting in, due to being sick and other family things that came up while I've been on vacation time. Went out Friday by myself as my buddy couldn't make it out. Was running a little late but nevertheless got out to the spot I wanted to check. Sat for a couple hours and saw nothing. Decided to head back to my truck and check another area. As I was walking back I would stop every 40yards or so and check my surroundings of the big clear cut. Was a few hundred yards from my truck when I spotted movement on my left. Got my glasses up and saw the tail end of a deer going behind a big pile. Kept checking the other side to see where it would pop out.
Finally I caught it again trotting across the little logging road in front of me about 80-90yds out saw it had antlers and knowing it was any buck where I was I took aim and put my 30.06 dead center of his right shoulder after he stopped for a second and pulled the trigger. Watched him limp off to the tree line to my right, headed in and searched for him, heard a crash and went towards the sound and found him piled up. I was definitely stoked and had quite the adrenaline rush going. He's no trophy but his my biggest deer so far. Just glad I was able to fill my tag after eating it last year.
