Savage axis .270 issues
« on: October 30, 2016, 08:23:07 AM »
I've wanted a .270 all my life but my remi 700 in 30.06 has been efficient enough for the little modern hunting that I do. Well my dad doesn't hunt anymore and so he gave me his "new never shot" savage axis chambered in .270.  I was pretty excited once I mounted a vari-x 3 with cds on it.
I took it to Idaho last week for its first hunt. It didn't take to long to realize that when I got out of the backcountry, I would retire the gun!
My problem........it seemed every time I looked at the gun, the safety was off? It must of happened 4-5 times before I just decided to not chamber a round.
Anyone with issues like this? Can it be tightened/fixed?

Now I have had a guns safety click off in the brushy Washougal area when I was younger, but this is not the case. Also, it was holstered in my packs built in scabbard, so, it seems just walking/hiking is causing it to slip?

I'm hoping you gun experts can help
Thanks!

I have an Axis in 30.06, never had this problem. I would contact Savage, I'm sure that they will be fairly responsive since it is a serious safety issue!
My interpretation of the rules are open to interpretation.
Once I thought I was wrong but I was mistaken.

if you didn't mess around with the mechanical parts, I guess Savage would be glad to help you. Honestly, never heard about an issue like that, but your best bet will be to contact Savage. The warranty is only 1 year, but they still should help you with that issue.

Have the same rifle and my only problem was the heavy trigger. Awesome shooter
