Satellite Text Communicators
« on: November 08, 2016, 12:36:53 PM »
Looking for a backcountry satellite device that pairs with smart phone to send and receive custom text messages.  I've used and liked the Spot Connect, but cannot receive messages.  I've briefly looked at the Spot Gen 3 and DeLorme inReach.  I like the simpleness of the SPOT, but have not handled or seen the features of the DeLorme.  Any other options available?  Reviews?

I rented a satellite phone from PHI in Scottsdale recently. It was a good experience. Not sure if they offer what you're looking for but you could always call them up and ask.

DeLorme InReach is your most cost effective system.  and lighter than a sat phone.

I am hopeful that Garmin's purchase of DeLorme will involve integrating the Rhino with the INReach technology at some point in the future.

That could be a really sweet innovation.
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.
