November bugles

This year's modern season was interesting. My group heard three different bulls bugle this season. I know they can bugle anytime of the year but I have never heard them bugle during modern. Let alone three different bulls.  My bull bugled a couple minutes before I killed him on opening day. My cousin heard one bugle while he was in the timber a couple days later. My buddy and I heard one bugle twice a few days ago before day light. What do you guys think? Just random happenstance? Or did a weak rut cause some cows to not get bred and now there going through a small late cycle? The bulls were definitely herded up more than usual.

I saw some bulls chasing cows still late into the 2nd weekend.  The bull that i know of that was shot on the 2nd to last day seemed like he was doing the same.

I saw some fresh rubs in the timber with bark on top of the leaves and the bulls we got were with cows. I think they are/were still rutting.

Ive SEEN bulls bugle one time during moder firearm season. 2 bull right next to each other right b4 my buddy killed the spike that was with them. It was about 4 or 5 days into the season in gmu 346 about 500yards from the PCT back in 2000

They were bugling the last two weekends in 328.

I heard a bull bugle day before opener and then a few days into the season. I think someone got him by mid week. Was a good 4x4. When we saw him the day before he sure didn't like the little spike in his herd!

Bulls were bugling down in the Brushy the last Sunday of spikes. It was the first time my son, nephew and their friend had heard bugles in person

I hit a cow call just for S&G and the bull my dad killed came crashing out of the timber looking for the cow.  No bugle, but he came a runnin.

Definitely late rut activity this year with the warm mild weather. Well over 2 months this year calling in bulls.

Grundy, are you hunting northwest Washington or sw? If you don't mind me asking. I'm going sw, late archery, to the same place I went early archery, and one day muzzle loader with a friend. I heard  two, right at first light ,on different days, and nothing else. This topic has me thinking I should bring the calls with me.

I've heard bugles in November. If a cow doesn't breed in September they come back into heat in late October early November! That's what I've been told anyway

I have heard them bugle in January during a muzzy cow permit season.
I seen a tiny spotted calf killed in the late Muzzy season (November-December) . The black tail doe they had in the truck with it was about twice the size. I also seen spotted calf on the white tail reserve along the Columbia river near Cathlamet in January a few yrs back. That cow was bread either really early or really late. Horny cows like these will get a bull going anytime of the yr.

I shot one last Thursday in the sw part of the state that was responding every time I whistled with just my mouth.

Really got me interested in less time in the tteestand and maybe hit some high peaks super early and do some before light bugles . im up north of Spokane and my neighbor up there has see several elk. Wow if I get some answers up there before light its game on ! Cool topic guys got me going 😱 Time to drop the sticks n gloves !! ( that's hockey slang for those of u who r not cryder peeps ) and start fighting for a dam shot for crap sakes !!

I heard bulls bugle last year when i was in my tree stand for late archery.  About 20 minutes after light, there was a big herd moving into this field and multiple bulls and cows were talking.  I dropped a cow..

Cool ! A elk from a tree stand ! I was told that would never happen cool again !! More incentive to turn into a popscicle in a tree !
