Got one more in the exact spot. Feels about the same size too.  More meat for the freezer!
Went and sprung all my traps today. I'll be too busy over the next 4-5 days to check them. I'm planning to target a whole new area next week any how.

I pulled my traps the other day except for one that is just down the road from my house. Its on a well used game trail that has gave me several skunks and cats the last two years and I was planning to pull it this morning and when I saw the door was closed I assumed I had another empty trap set off by a skunk.
I was wrong!
Got a bucket-list catch!

In hindsight, probably should have just walked away a lot farther and it would have left the cage faster but oh well, got some cool video to show the characteristics of these animals.
And unfortunitley, my dad didnt press the play button when it hopped out of the cage so no footage of that but it just fast-walked away like it was no big deal! Very cool day!

I called WDFW this morning right after I found it they said they just wanted a hair sample. Pulling some hair from it was a pretty sketchy thing to attempt!  :yike:

No, that's the only fisher I've ever caught. I've caught Bobcat and skunk several times at that spot in the last few seasons.

Did you get the hair for a DNA sample? Jeff told me scat was just as good and would be easier to get if there was any.
Did you talk to Jeff Lewis or someone else?
I would say based on size that is a male and a good sized one. Looks bigger then the biggest one I released.

I did get hair. I had my dad just grab some off his tail when he was up against the back of the cage.
I cannot remember the name of the guy I talked to. I asked him if he needed scat and hair and he said all he needed was the hair.  :dunno: Plenty of poo in the cage to get too. Oh well.
I kind of assumed it was a male being that it was good size. Crazy how aggressive they are. No small game stand a chance against one of them!

Pretty Cool    Congratulation on the catch
It sounds like a lot of raccoons I walked up on but a lot calmer.
I'm thinking its one of the Fisher Bruce and I released with Jeff last year.

Grab all of the hair and poop you can find and give it to Jeff or give it to Bruce and he'll get it to Jeff.
Nice releasing job you and Dad did.  Two thumbs up
