Seattle boat show purchase?
« on: December 28, 2016, 04:58:08 PM »
Wondering if any members have bought a boat at the Seattle boat show?  Did you feel you got a better deal?   Is it worth the trip down?

I ordered my boat at the boat show but don't think it gave me any benefit by doing it there/then. If you find a boat already there at the show, I think you can wheel and deal.
The things that come to those who wait, may be the things left by those who got there first!

I felt I got a sweet deal at the boat show on my Whaler.  It was the prior year's model, they had a Costco promotion going, and then an extra boat show discount off of that.   I had no intentions of buying a new boat that day, but they got it down pretty close to what the used boats were going for.

Guess it depends what sized your looking for, but a lot come rigged with Electronics, heaters, etc..  Most times are included in the price for basically what a base model is.  You got to settle with what is on it at the time..  Motors are generally under sized, but you never know...

Some of the dealers get a bit of a kick back from electronic and motor companies for displaying their products on their boats, so ensure you ask them what is their rock bottom price is..  See if they want to use it at the Portland Show or other local shows also for a discount to you..  Worth a try to save some funds.

If you're in the aluminum boat market - go to the Portland show! Way more aluminum boat options, Seattle more Tupperware boat options

I will second this, bought my Boulton at the Portland show. When I bought, Portland was the last show of the season, as explained to me. So instead of dragging a boat back to the shop, sell it at a good deal. And a great deal I got! I would recommend buying any boat in Oregon, if the dealer knows what their doing. They will write up the bill of sale as such, to save you enough money, to finish equipping your boat.

Use the show to find out what you really want...and then get on the phone.  I am in the industry and personally a 3 hour drive saved me 5k.  I would even call the Boise, Missoula and Lewiston area once you know what you want.

This is truly the way the show is set up.Note that if you purchase in Seattle and are gonna wait for them to show it in Portland before it is delivered to you that it still comes as it was when you purchased it in Seattle. My dad bought his this way,Got a great deal as the electronics were premium at a very discounted price.Problem was a few items were swapped out in Portland for whatever reason. The boat trailers that the boats are on at the show seem to be the best bargains at the show when buying the boat.  :twocents:
