Dozens of deer fawns owe you a debt of gratitude.

I've never stacked them like that.
I should've bagged a few more.... I spooked a couple and missed a couple 400+ yards out. There's plenty more out there for sure

Was this all on one farm?  Nice job.   I'm heading over this weekend.

6 out of 7 were within 115 yards of the bunkhouse. The bunkhouse was the perfect blind. We spent a lot of time during the day looking for upland birds and saw a few yotes but saw way more while in the warm bunkhouse. 5 of the 6 were shot when it was dark, early morning or evening.

Great job. What type of exit hole are you seeing with the 55 grain ballistic tips, if any?

With the 2 that were spine hit..... you could read the morning paper through the holes :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: The others weren't as bad. I'm thinking some fmj's through the AR would be much smaller.

FMJ's are going to give you a lot of runners even with multiple hits. One of the jobs I've had was controlling feral dogs in Vietnam(rabies problems), many time multiple hits were required even at close range.   I've had good luck with 58gr V-max out of my 6mm-204 not exiting,  You might want to give the 55gr NBT Lead Frees a try, they have worked well for me but never tried to run them past 300 yards.  62gr VG's have left huge exits on the few coyotes I took with them before I gave up on them.

In .224's I like the 52gr Speer HP varmint bullet, it seems to work at all speeds from 222 Rem. to 22-250.  I've also had good luck with 40gr NBT's out of my 22-204 at about 3950fps, pretty much my go to rig for pelt hunting.

Looks like you had a great time, were you hunting with lights or just using ambient light on the snow?  Back in MN and WI we did a lot of night hunting on Moonlit nights on the snow.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Make mine a Minaska

Nice work!

Spent five days over there during Christmas and saw yore tracks everywhere I hunted. Unreal how many there seems to be.

Al
I was shocked at the lack of quail and the amounts of feathers from coyote and hawk kills. Way too many coyotes over there.

I'm seeing the same thing, coming across lot's of turkey carcasses too.  The quail are doing OK but should be bigger flocks as I've got tons of cover and feed.  I tried quail distress calls but didn't get a bite.  Nothing beats a carcass on the ground though

I want to set up a driveway monitor alert so I know when to look out the window  :chuckle:
