Seeking black bear books/article recommendations
« on: February 08, 2017, 12:03:44 PM »
I'm interested in any black bear focused books/articles that give insight into hunting tips and techniques for hunting them without bait and specifically in the high country if possible. Also, if anyone has any literature on biological studies or anything along those lines that gets into black bear behavior through the summer into the early Fall that would be great as well. I already own and have read "No Bait, Just Bears" (very informative BTW) so no need to recommend that. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Education of a Bear Hunter has some helpful info.  It has current style hunting mixed in with bait/trapping/dogs, just have to sort through some of it.
Born Under a Stump, mostly dogs, but again there's good carryover.

This is a link to No Bait, Just bears. Already read that. I will look into his second book though. Although it looks like basically the first book with just a little more added?

The second book is almost three times the size in text with lots of photos and new info. Just wrote a spring bear article in NW sportsman magazine, bear hunting magazine is a good choice.

Black bear hunting by Richard Smith looks good but haven't read it yet. Thanks for the support by the way.
