Im clueless to AR's other than they are black and scary
. I recently brought my AR into the 21st century with alot of new parts. One of them is a Seekins Precision adjustable gas block . My question is since I use a suppressor on this gun should I adjust it with the can on or off ? Its a 16" barrel with a carbine length gas system.
I've read that a 16" barrel with carbine length gas system and a suppressor could cause a pressure issue , is this true? Should I think about a new barrel in a mid length gas system ?
Thanks
Can off. If tuned properly without the suppressor the rifle will run in both configurations. You will have a little extra gas with the suppressor mounted, but won't be nearly as gassy as it would be without the adjustable block.
The 16 with a carbine length gas system works fine and will not have any overpressure issues.
The Supressor can act as an accumulator (depending on design) and will give some low pressure blowback after the round is fired. Most of this can be cured with a PRI gasbuster charging handle. It never really bothered me and I always thought it was a luxury.
