I guess that explains why the commission has done nothing about Cenci.
The commission doesn't make personnel decisions. They could certainly put pressure on Unsworth and that doesn't appear to have been done.

A concern I have is let's say Wecker is booted, chances are her replacement will be from the commercial fishing industry simply because most of the applicants have that background. Cenci has a lot of friends in the commercial fishing industry, would anything really change? If anything we'd just see a good voice for recreational fishing disappear.

As far as I can see, 3 of the 8 have a commercial fishing background.  :dunno:

Are you telling me that Wecker's personal friendship has NO bearing on any decisions she might make toward removing Cenci?  Especially given the fact that she is the chair person, I would think she would have a fair amount of influence.

What has she done that makes her a good voice for recreational fishing?  :dunno:
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

The commission does make one huge personnel decision; they hire, supervise and fire the director at will.  You must understand that if the commission wanted to fix the issues in enforcement, they would simply make sure the director got it done.  The director may very well have his hands tied by Wecker and the commission, when it comes to enforcement, because of these special favors (ie- cleaning up the mess of a storm).  That is exactly why that kind of behavior is considered to be a conflict of interest.

I count four: Thompson, Bold, Blankenship, and Mueller

Thompson, Blankenship, and Barauh can't be appointed if the current commission stays in-tact since you can't have more than one commissioner from a county and they live in a county who already has a WDFW Commissioner.

Let's not also forget anybody can take 10 minutes and apply to the Commission anyday. I'm actually surprised only 8 people have applied since you can apply 24/7/365.

I'm not saying that at all. She's friends with just about every WDFW Officer in Pacific County. I'm saying just because you boot Wecker from the commission, it doesn't mean another Cenci lover won't take her place, especially if Inslee appoints a person with commercial fishing interests.

She's not the Chair.

She was one of the biggest advocates for changing the allocation on the Columbia towards recreational fishing which has been the drama lately as well as the change in allocating more crab towards recreationals in Puget Sound away from the commercials.
