Browning big horn tent?
« on: February 02, 2017, 12:27:56 PM »
I need to pick up a new tent for summer camping, one that isn't as heavy or big as my 12x20 alaknak, and more suited to family camping with just the 3 of us.

Was going to buy on of the coleman insta tents, as I liked my last one ok, but im not in love with them either. I ran across the bighorn while doing so, and like the look of it, seems to be just about the right size, and doesn't seem like a pain to set up.

Is it worth the 250ish$ they are asking for them? anyone use one that can comment on its build quality? and lastly, is there another summertime type camping tent you would recommend?

I need to fit 2-3 cots, or 2 cots and a small air mattress at the most, usually just 2 cots. I was thinking of going with a Kodiak canvas, but don't want to drop that much money on one, as I already have the alakanak for cold weather, and longer duration setups.

I'd go to REI and check out their Kingdom 4 or 6 person tents. Probably close, maybe a bit more in price, but you'll get the REI guarantee on it and most likely better materials as well. The 4 will fit 2 cots no problem and would have room for an air mattress between them still

Look like nice tents, probably to small though, my cots are 40" wide, the 4 would fit 2, but tight, and the 6 is more then I want to spend for a few trips a year, wife wouldn't be thrilled if I spent another 500$ after buying the alaknak last summer lol
