Spotlight for Coyote Hunting

What is a good spotlight for coyote hunting?  Preferably under $100 and I would like it to have a red lens that I could scan with and then flip up for brighter light right before the shot.

Since we are in WA spotlighting for coyotes is a lot harder.  I would ignore your budget and save up for a good package, that is lightweight, and easy on batteries.  Nothing over 350,000 candlepower.

The lightforce 170's are awesome units but spendy.  If you want a rheostat for lighting them up and conserving batteries they probably have the best factory units.  The light, charger, rheostat,  battery, car charger, and carry bag will add up to about $300.

I have a LightForce 240 probably the best you can buy for the money IMO, with the rheostat you can dial it down or crank it up. They do cost though as tbradford mentioned. Definitely need the filter,rheostat,charger and a pack for the battery etc. I would go for a smaller one ( 140) if you wanted to mount it on your scope.

I use a brinkman hand held it has 2 batteries and a red.blue, and amber filter they retail for about 40 bucks

Does anyone use a Pentagon, or Surefire light?  I think they have a mount that would hook right on the Picitinny mount on an AR...and I've heard they make red filters for them.  My son has one (and itty bitty Surefire), and WOW it definately lights up some real-estate.  Lights up my 300 yard gong out behind the house.  Small in size but large on price.

A lot of guys will mount one of these lights on a shotgun for night hunting and turn it on when they are about to shoot.  This allows you to hunt with a light that does not have to be powered up or a cover flipped up to "burn" your target.  Using one for your primary light would eat up battery power in a hurry.

I've had the Lightforce lights (140/170) since '93 and they both have worked flawless for all them years.
I also have the rheostat and it's connected to a 12v-12 amp battery, which really gives a very long burn time.
