Just purchased my first Dillon 550B reloader and can't wait to start cranking out rounds.  I bought it used (though the machine looks new) with quite a few extras.  Got a great price but now need to spend a little more money to get the caliber conversions I need.

Is there anything you guys would reccomend as a "must have" for these reloaders?

Any tips and trick??

All of my reloading has been done via single stage press up to this point.  I plan on keeping my single stage for my rifle ammo and using the dillon for pistol.

Thanks for any input and super excited to add blue to my reloading room.

Congrats.  I am thinking about trading off my Hornady LNL AP for a Redding T7 or Dillon 550.  Let us know how it goes.

I did the same this year. I bought mine used as well, Came set up for .300 Win Mag. I found that Amazon has the best prices I can find for parts and accessories, I now have 9mm and .223 caliber conversion kits for mine

The priming system works good at least on 9mm, but depending on your preference a hand priming tool and a good powder scale to double check powder charges the powder dispenser throws.

I will have to take pics when I get it all set up.  It came fully set up with 5 tool heads, 5 powder funnels, 3 sets of dies (one dillon carbide), 3 conversion kits, misc parts / wrenches, tools, springs, etc. and primer pick up tubes.  All for about the cost of the unit with one caliver conversion.

I got one a few years ago used. Haven't had much time to use it but so far zero complaints!

Jrebel, I have 2- 550B's and 1- 1050 Super. (as well as a Rock Chucker, Hornady progressive and a Lee for my 50BMG). However I load all my pistol and rifle ammo on the 2- 550's up to 338 Lapua. I hand throw powder for the magnums, but still size prime and seat on the 550.
I also load  my match ammo for my 6.5x47 Lapua on the 550. This ammo is loaded progressive with the factory Dillon powder dispenser as well, and it holds sub 1/2 MOA out to 1K.
The moral of my rambling is don't sell your 550 short. It is one of the most versatile loading machines out there and can produce very accurate ammo.

If you are loading pistol on it, make sure you get lot's of light right into the case and make sure that you look into each case.  I have seen lots of squibs on 550's.  As long as you are looking, you'll be just fine.

I have never heard that, haven't had an issue with it either.

I'd recommend a 2nd Dillon so you don't have to swap out parts between large primers and small primers.   You know you're a gun nut when you do that.  I did.

Yep, I've seen it happen, look on gunbroker, there are guys who sell little LED lights specifically for this. Because the 550 doesn't auto index a mistake can be made.
