A couple of years ago after coming back from turkey hunting I saw several on the ceiling of my truck. I sprayed it down with flea and tick killer, didn't matter every time I got in that truck I felt like I had one crawling on me. I eventually had to sell the truck (cheap) to someone that didn't care about them.

Lyme disease is carried by black-legged ticks west of the Cascade crest.

East of the crest, there is little to worry about. After climbing Snow Creek Wall in May or June, we used to go to Gustav's in Leavenworth for burgers and beer. I remember pouring beer in an ash tray, then finding ticks (scalp, neck, you name it) and placing them in the beer bath. Great entertainment while we waited for the burgers and fries. On the west side of the slope, the first few warm (70+ degrees) days are when you generally need to be cautious, although I'm hearing from multiple sources that ticks are out early this year.

Just got back from spring bear scouting in 117 and the warden that checked us had one on his shirt walking around.    Every time I get over to the dry side either I get them or someone around me.  Tried that tick spray and nothing for me, hope it continues that way.  Thanks for the info about which side carries Lyme diseases.

Couple simple  tricks that  help.

1. Pull your socks up over your pant legs so they can't  crawl up
2. Wear a shirt you can tuck into  your pants  with  long sleeves  and tight wrist  cuffs.

Spent Sunday in the Teanaway hiking around, and have always had bad luck with ticks in the area, especially this time of year. I sprayed my clothes down with Permithrin the night before, tucked my shirt in and wore gators. No ticks on me at all, never even saw one. Sprayed the dog with flea/tick repellant before we hit the woods, and also sprayed her collar with Permithrin the night before. No ticks on her either, which is a first. My Dad had no repellant on, and found several throughout the day and on the ride home. Nothing dug in, just crawling around. I'm sold on the Permithrin treatment.

My son and I both got bit two weeks ago and brushed off about 40 of them.
Had to pull out the matches and tweezers to get it out of my rib-cage area. Felt like i got hit in the side by a hammer. I never knew they hurt that bad, but it was dug in my skin good. Head and shoulders were burrowed in my skin and back legs still out.

My pup had one on her ear after i took her to the park in Yakima.

FWIW - I keep any ticks that have attached us or my animals in the event I need testing done.

A drop of peppermint essential oil and they'll withdraw by themselves.

I have to say, I was a little nervous to open this thread.  I thought there may be pics of the little buggers.  Just seeing pic of a tick makes my skin crawl.

That's a pretty sweet video pianoman , thanks for sharing . I was turkey hunting at my uncles place in dalkena last week and as soon as I petted one of his mutts I had a big tick crawling on my hand.
