Springdale

Was going to try the area out this year. I usually Hunt farther north near addy, but in the last couple years we have lost access due to fires, forestry and mudslides. So i thought about trying some new areas. I know there is a on of public property in the area, how bout the turkey numbers? I imagine it's still in prime country it's not that far away. I'm excited to try something new though, sad to leave my old stomping grounds. It will definately be a change.

There are a decent number of birds still, but there seems to be more birds the further north you go. Most have learned to hang out on private property and birds on public land get very call shy as the season goes on.  In my experience, calling less is better and only call aggressively when you know they are coming in. What area are you thinking about hunting?

Just some spots off of springdale hunter road. Basically to the north or south of that road. I've driven that area before and looked, but it's always mid day. Seems to be a ton of public land bordering the private around there

Never really had luck there, and after 3 dry years hunting that area we ended up driving more north and getting into way more birds. Worth the extra time to go north.

Back in the mid to late 90s when I first got here and they were killing around 500 to 600 turkeys statewide each spring, the Springdale area is where we would get into multiple birds everyday.  I would kill a bird every spring along the Springdale-Hunters road.  Now I have not been in there in the last 4.5 years since I was living in Virginia, but I can't imagine it's not still full of turkeys on all that public land.  All we hunted was public land and no matter where we went we were into birds on a consistent basis.  I've even taken a couple of members here and called in their first birds for them all along Springdale-Hunters Road.

Still lots a bird's in that area,there is a bit of public land that is not up the hunters highway ,Do your homework,and find all public land closest to Springdale , stateland.Goodluck.

Plenty of birds everywhere from Spokane to Canadian boarder.
Springdale is has a ton of birds. I have property near there and see huge flocks constantly. Mostly on private land, but great numbers. I don't usually check out public land though.

I had 700 acres leased on Bowler Road just off Lyons Hill rd. Fair amount of turkeys back 5 years ago. I gave it up as I was TIRED of ALL the trespassers. Some state land at the end of Bowler rd.

I used to hunt that area a lot back in the 90s.  It probably got worse when they closed the late deer to draw only.  I used to hunt not far from where you leased in the late season and I would never see another hunter.  Then one late season. I get out of my rig before daylight and literally had to stand there and watch 14 rigs drive past me, on a little trail that I would never see more than 2 or 3 vehicles for an entire season.  Really sucked.

Thanks for all the great info. Really I just wanted to hear that there is knowledge of plenty of turkeys in the area. I am a good and ambitious enough hunter to take care of the rest. Well ill be able to call them in, hopefully someone else is shooting because we all know how that's been going for me.  Gobble gobble

Ya sometimes it can look like a pumpkin patch out there,but Turkey season won't be that bad.

I went over and scouted this weekend. Lots of snow, youth weekend is going to be tough for these kids. Birds barely said a thing all weekend
