According to the book I am reading:
Sabot is pronounced "sah-bow" not "sah-butt". Apparently it is a term the French used for wooden shoes worn by peasants. Now the word means bushing.

Yes I know that but often I will just say it the wrong way otherwise people look at me funny and don't know what the hell I'm talking about. Kind of like when you pronounce "Leupold" the correct way.

Oh I agree. For 30 years I called my pre-64 Sako rifle, "sayko", but now I am told it should be "socko".
Needless to say, I can not rename it after a pair of socks.
