help finding a recently out of production truck tire?????
« on: April 18, 2017, 09:46:15 PM »
Hi all.

Looking for help.

I put a nail through one of my tires this weekend.
(It happens to be a Falken Wildpaek A/T AT02, size 285 75 16)

The tires only have about 4,000 miles on them, but they are 2 years old (hunting rig).

The other 3 tires are practically new.

I checked E-Bay and called some local tire stores.

Any ideas on how I can find an out-of-production tire???????

Thanks in advance,

Dan

Can't put a good patch on the inside then put a tube in it? :dunno: Sidewall damaged too bad?

The tire store said they can't fix it on the sidewall where it is.

I don't really want to risk it if the tire store says they don't want to fix it.

Just wondering about a tube.......   how would that work since there is a TPMS (tire pressure monitor system) unit in there?

Probably be a better idea just to find another tire. Better safe than sorry. Check Craigslist. Good luck.

Yeah, I definitely want a new tire.

It's just that the other three are practically new and I'd like to have them match.

Tirerack.com carries Falken.  They might have it.

It's a common tire size. Wouldn't be the end of the world to put one on a spare and buy two new ones? The place you bought them hung you out?

Where did you buy the tire?

I bought them from a small independent shop, but it wouldn't be fair to say they hung me out.   They had a guy online looking for 10-15 minutes.

The tire is no longer in production, and nobody seems to habe any.... not even ebay.

That sucks. I'd send one to a full size spare and just buy two new ones. It would annoy me as well having a mix match set.

Check all the different online retailers you can you may get lucky. I would bet you can find another AT that is close in design so it doesn't stand out so bad. I've often ran a AT on the Front and MT on the rear but I run a lot of used tires on my personal rig.

Still looking for help finding this tire.

It has to be a:    Falken Wildpeak A/T AT02, size 285 75 16

An AT03 is a totally different tread.

Any help is appreciated.
