Bumping GMU 356 information?

Hi forum dwellers!  As some of you may have already read, I'm a disabled hunter and am very new to Washington, Elk Hunting and this forum so I thought I'd ask for some information on Bumping GMU 356.  Hopefully once I get my disabled hunter status, it will allow me to use some roads to get way back into the GMU to set up my camp for this coming season.  Can anyone comment as to how many normally closed off access roads there are, and any other information as to some of the less hunted areas back deep in this GMU?

Bumping is almost all wilderness. Two of the major roads leading into the unit are washed out.

If you are truly disabled, this isn't the unit for you

Yeah, Bumping has very few roads.  How disabled are you?  There are places to be, down by Bumping Road, but it would be hit or miss as far as normal traffic.

yep... bumping is just about all wilderness area... no wheels of any kind...  try Nile (next area east on 410).. they have at least one road that's disabled only (or us other can walk it)... don't know how far back it goes tho... I've never walked in there..

There are two areas in the Nile with gates for the disabled. According to others it is a lottery to get access if you have a disable permit, don't know how you enter. You can expect lots of company from people walking or biking in.

Take a look at Google earth of the area, Just search Bumping lake. GMU 356 is a very rugged area. All of the maps show very few roads and limited vehicle access.

Hello, here at WPO we work real hard at helping disabled hunters and our young hunters getting into remote wilderness areas. We fill all hunters need a chance at a real wilderness hunt. No roads

Without knowing your limitations the cowichee unit has a varied road system to include gated area's for disabled hunters access.  The area's can have a variety of terrain and opportunities.  I believe that keys for the gated area's are managed thru the game dept.  Good Luck with your hunting adventures in 2017
