I was just reviewing posts for hunting help from new hunters moving to the seattle area. I just wanted to offer help, answer questions what have you. I work in the king, Snohomish county area during the week. I'm 31, have been off trail backpacking for the last 12 years and backcountry solo hunting for the last 4 years. Thanks for putting an offer out- I'm in need of some help. My current situation: used to bowhunt whitetail deer in the northeast (CT). Have been out of the game for about 4 years and recently moved to WA. In CT, there used to be bowhunting only areas which made it pretty easy to find public land that wasn't crowded with riflers. Now that I'm here I am  looking to 1. Get back to bow hunting deer within 1 hr of the jblm area and 2. Maybe find someone to introduce to elk hunting, bow or rifle. Any tips appreciated in advance! I'm having the most trouble understanding the WA hunting laws regarding GMUs and public land use. Thinking about doing some scouting in the Olympic and capitol forest areas but open to all ideas and suggestions.

Newbie here as well. From Ohio originally and have ended up going back there or to CO to hunt deer / elk over the past two seasons. Would love to pick your brain on what a Seattle based person has at their disposal. Tried some of the timber lands (Rayonier for Spring bear and Campbell Global for deer) with no luck.

I'm planning on hunting black bear GMU ,archery for deer and elk if any one wants to come along I'm always open to new hunting buddies. I purchased the Weyerhaeuser permit for west Colombia river there are still permits available.last time I checked. Will  be anew area to me. Want to go up for bear next month but really just an excuse to scout for elk. There is plenty of public land or open to the public land tho. In case you don't want to shell out 200 bucks.

Im very confused on where i can hunt and where i can't.

Im looking at my GMU 448 map and as much as i understand i can hunt anywhere where its marked dark green or light green. Is it correct?

Seen lots of deers and some black bears close to highway 2 in stevens pass area.

Seems that there is lost of trails with easy access close to Index town.

Get Onx maps and download the offline maps for the area you are hunting. It will show you who owns what land, that way you can tell whether land is private, state or national forest,etc. As you drive along HWY 2 some the forest land you see is private land and some of it is public.
