THE ONLY NRA ENDORSED INSURANCE FOR CREDENTIALED FIREARMS INSTRUCTORS
As a firearms trainer, you know the inherent risks of firearms instruction. This coverage is designed to protect you at a low rate you can afford.
COVERAGE ELIGIBILITY
Firearms Instructor Plus Insurance is designed for:
- Certified or otherwise credentialed instructors, training counselors, coaches and range safety officers
- Both NRA and non-NRA courses and training
WHAT’S COVERED
If you select our most comprehensive coverage, you have a choice of General Liability & Professional Liability limit options that cover you for:
- Injuries and/or damage you cause while acting as an instructor during a lesson
- Medical expenses up to $5,000
- Legal expenses from lawsuits related to the injuries or damage
- Professional Liability coverage that protects you from allegations of negligent training
You may also purchase a General Liability Only policy without the Professional Liability coverage, which means you will be covered for accidental injuries and damage and medical expenses, but not for your training itself.

Thanks Dale. Certified instructors for WDFW, while acting in their official duties for WDFW are volunteers that would be defended by the state in most instances, unless there was some form of extreme negligence or intentional malfeasance.
This is from the Instructor Policy manual:
Liability Coverage
Policy: Whenever any legal action or proceeding for damages is brought against any volunteer while performing their assigned volunteer duties, the volunteer can request the attorney general’s office defend them at the expense of the state. However the attorney general, with cause, may decline the request.
This is the RCW:
http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=4.92.060
RCW 4.92.060
Action against state officers, employees, volunteers, or foster parents—Request for defense.
Whenever an action or proceeding for damages shall be instituted against any state officer, including state elected officials, employee,
volunteer
, or foster parent licensed in accordance with chapter 74.15 RCW, arising from acts or omissions while performing, or in good faith purporting to perform, official duties, or, in the case of a foster parent, arising from the good faith provision of foster care services, such officer, employee, volunteer, or foster parent may request the attorney general to authorize the defense of said action or proceeding at the expense of the state.

It appears the law provides a possible layer of protection for state employees and hunter ed volunteers. Others who teach firearm classes or are range officers not sponsored by the state like myself probably aren't included?
