Time for new arrows. Dynamic spine?
« on: May 21, 2017, 12:25:18 PM »
Time for new arrows!   Currently shooting CE Mayhems , tempted to go back to the less expensive beeman Hunter pro, yet keep reading about dynamic spine  (Maxima Reds, Element arrows -marketing hype?) And how it may solve my on going issue of getting my broadsheets to fly the same as my fields.

Btw I shoot 70# Hoyt 28.5 arrow - so 350 spine, and 420 gr  for hunting.
Old enough to know better.
Young enough to go for it.

If you ever figure it out, let me know.  I've done everything and still can't get them to print the same.

Slick tricks. There might be better broadheads, but only ones I've found to fly the same as field points.

Not sure about the spine issue but mechanical heads fly pretty good. I personally have had good results with them.

new  broadheads and arrows will not likely fix the problem. good arrow with a quality broadhead and helical fletch is a good place to start. Then you most likely have to tune your bow to get them to fly with the field points. The more fletching/helical you have the more it will help.

Gold tip hunter hunter st and pro then the element quakes have same point of impact with 4 different broad heads to the field points. Bow tuning plays a big part but spine orientation plays a part too.

Try NAP killzone mechanical for states where its legal to shoot mechanical's. I'm headed to Idaho for elk and its a broadhead show there. Playing with some ATAC's, Drone's and wac em's. The Wac em's fly great the blades are thinner than I like. Hear great things about slick tricks, have yet to try them.

This might sound a little crazy, but before spending a bunch of cash on arrows try swapping out the Carbon Express nocks with Easton MicroLite or 3D Super Nocks.  CE is a crazy good arrow, but their nocks can drive you to insanity!

350 spine sounds about right on spine but you may want to back off 1/2 turn of draw weight at a time until they come together.  If after two turns they still don't come together...it's likely dynamic spine is not your issue.

Also, buglebrush might not be that far off.  Hoyts can be fickle little B'ches if your timing isn't perfect.
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."
