When I think back I just laugh, when I had 8 points I called a biologist who worked the Margaret unit. I thought for sure w 8 points I was drawing, no doubt!!! Lol, 14 years later still trying, of course I changed my choice from the Margaret to the blues when I hit 10 points. I was 23 or 24 last time I drew a quality elk permit, 48 in a couple weeks. Sad for a resident
NR special pernits are limited to 10% or less in most states so your odds aren't always better. Now idaho residents have pretty good odds at some good tags! I bet there's quite a few tags in idaho that are better than washington quality hunts and easier to draw, even as a NR.
